When Small Is Big PDF Print E-mail

“If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, ‘Remove hence to yonder place;’ and it shall remove;

and nothing will be impossible unto you.” (Matthew 17:20 KJV)

There is a Turkish proverb that reads, “A small key opens big doors.” That’s logical, isn’t it? But human nature tends to argue that “Bigger is better.” Have you ever seen a photograph of a skinny sumo wrestler? They don’t exist. The word “skinny” is never used to describe these huge wrestlers. The Proverbs 31 woman drives me nuts... PDF Print E-mail
Written by Chrystal
The Proverbs 31 woman drives me nuts. I wish she'd show up to church with a fresh piece of broccoli between her teeth. I think about her every so often. You know like right now when I read that "she sets about her work vigorously" and "works with eager hands." I can count on my fingers that number of times that I have gotten up "while it is still dark" and then she actually works? THEN I read that her family is clothed in scarlet...mine aren't, that's for sure. So I probably think about her every so often because I never give her the proper amount of time. Maybe I’m avoiding her. Maybe.

The Year Christmas Arrived Early PDF Print E-mail
Written by Pam Enderby
I tumbled out of bed and began preparing a mental "to do" list. I'll write my Christmas letter, bake cookies, and begin shopping. I'm going to buy the "perfect gifts" this year—gifts that won't get stashed in drawers, soon to be forgotten or returned to the mall the day after Christmas.

The harder I shopped, the grumpier I grew. After hours of combing through racks of sweaters, jeans and shirts at my daughter's favorite clothing stores, I headed for home with a pounding headache.

Wonderful PDF Print E-mail
Written by Dr. Patty Hambrick

Psalm 77:14:  You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

In addition to my position at Charleston Southern University, I am a pastor’s wife.  Around Christmas and several weeks before, we begin to practice for adult and children’s programs.  We have quite a diverse congregation and we have children who come from many unique circumstances and some from very difficult life situations.
